IF A GOP DEBATE FALLS IN THE FOREST AND NOBODY IS THERE TO HEAR IT, DO WE CARE?

Margaret, I did it again. I made the mistake of tuning into FOX News [sic], or as I like to call it: Hell on Helen’s Earth. Actually, the best thing about the second GOP debate was Univision Reporter, Ilia Calderón Chamat. Too bad the candidates didn’t bother to answer her questions. However, watching Nikki Haley beat up on Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis and Tim Whatshisname was a hoot. But the whole thing was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

When the candidates weren’t yelling over each other, they were happily demonizing parents of transgender children or excitedly describing their plans to rape America’s national parks. I can’t believe “drill baby drill” is still a sound bite for these dipshits. Then again, this is the party that seems to take delight in coming up with ways to drown or otherwise kill people at the border.

I’m really not sure if anything of true substance was discussed. There were some good questions asked by the moderators, but the candidates talked out of their asses about everything except what was asked. At one point these yahoos were arguing about the drapes hanging in someone’s office. I kid you not. The cost of drapes was Tim’s “gotcha” moment. The debate was just one long string of solutions looking for problems that don’t actually exist. Instead of empathy, the GOP offers disgust. Instead of leadership, they offer hysterical fearmongering. Instead of patriotism, they offer division and hate. And instead of a leader, they offer Trump.

Don’t get me wrong. America has problems. We actually do need a solution to the immigration crisis. We need to address climate change. We need all hands-on deck to address our mental healthcare problem. We need to get big money out of politics. Sensible gun laws. Affordable healthcare. We’ve got real issues to solve including keeping the government open. What we don’t need to worry about are drag shows.

Making America great again implies that America isn’t great. America is great. What isn’t great is the GOP.

Margaret, I ask you, why the hell are we wasting any more time on this? After years of pandering to the lowest common denominator, the GOP nominated its village idiot in 2016 and that idiot and his confederacy of dunces now own the party. Get ready folks. Trump will be the nominee and God help us if we don’t turn out the vote and send him packing. I mean it. Really.

  1. Donna, Trump is innocent until proven guilty, so he can do anything he wants until or if he goes to prison. Biden is barely functional.

  2. Donna, Trump’s indictments don’t mean squat until he is convicted. Biden is non compes mentes and his mental state is a reason a man facing prison is so popular

I live in Florida, so I have to deal with Desantis, Rubio and of course Donald when he comes back. Of course he’s a snowbird but I wonder how climate change will affect him hehe. It’s Oct, still getting high 80’s except for days we get monsoon rains haha. No golfing here that’s for sure,!!
All ,3 of them have wackiest ideas & unfortunately being in politics they can pass laws.
Teaching in Black history that the slaves learned a trade to use when free. Kids in school no longer can go to a teacher they trust when confused about sexual feelings, gay, straight??
Remember we used to teach kids they could go to a teacher, policeman or clergy? Well most kids don’t go to church let alone have a relationship with the clergy! Policeman yikes I think kids might be afraid of them ! So what’s left is a teacher, but they are forbidden to talk about it with children. Wow, let’s just mess the kids up !!

  13. I picked up a few sound bites from Trump today; one was on General Milley, Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Today is the day of his retirement, and Trump chimed in and said no, this day should be the day of Milley’s execution, and rues the day that Pence was not hung on January 6. (You will note that he never speaks of the deaths or severe injuries of the Capitol Police.) He wants violence, and he wants a civil war.

Someone made a joke, just can’t remember who it was regarding this second debate. It was that this second debate was so uninteresting that the platform the candidates were standing on was getting ready to collapse from boredom. (Ha!).

Palin, and Romney, and some of the others that came and went look tame compared to the our nowadays politicians especially on the right. No solutions to anything other than making existing problems worse and babbling on and on about non-issues. Shudder!

I just don’t understand why (supposedly) intelligent people keep on supporting the former President when there is more than enough evidence of his criminal actions to indict him on so many counts. I just hope that when the trials actually take place in the coming months that enough people have the strength and integrity to do the right thing and put him away for a very long time! Keep up your good work in telling the world the truth!
