Sometimes you find that person in life who completes you. Hollywood corny, I know, but this time it fits.
Margaret’s husband Howard was a kind, gentle man. Oh and incredibly smart. So damn smart. He laughed at us and with us. He cheered us on even in times when we deserved no audience much less an approving one. He steadied the waters when they were rough and built a ship where Margaret could sail freely with no fear of wind or rain. Her’s is a life filled with joy. That is the gift he gave her.
I will miss you dear Howard with all my heart. And I will forever be in your debt for the years of love you gave to my friend. Rest In Peace.
Please accept my most sincere condolences. I have not been able to read your brilliant posts for awhile so am just seeing this now. So sad to read the news. Blessings to you and all your family and friends.

I haven’t looked here for about two years, but I didn’t expect this news
There are no words,
So here is a song by a Hungarian who’s family has suffered pain too.’
Please accept the song in the spirit it is given. I hope someday you and your husband are together again to sing lullabies.

Oh, Margaret. So sorry for your loss. It’s like losing an arm, or a leg. You were a part of one another. I am thinking about you. You and Helen are people that I admire greatly. You are both so courageous and outspoken about what is important to you.
Thank you again for all you have shared with me. I know you will miss him greatly. And that does not even begin to describe what cannot be described.
Love always,

And I’ll meet you further on up the road.

Even though I didn’t know Howard or either of you two ladies, I’ve enjoyed your blog from time to time. Just yesterday, in fact, so it was a surprise to see another entry so soon, but then I saw it was a tribute to a great man. Of course he was very smart, he chose Margaret and she is very smart to have chosen him. Being a widow myself, I know the shock and the time it takes to not just have grief every day. Some people are never lucky enough to have what you had, Margaret, so I hope you can let your good memories sustain you in the darkest of days and your great friend Helen to bring you cheer.
My deepest condolences.

Dear Margaret, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my own Margaret, my mother, last August. She was a sharp and intelligent woman who shared my delight in and admiration for the Margaret & Helen posts over the years. May you find strength in friendships that continue and peace in the memories of the life you shared with Howard. My deepest sympathies.

Please accept my sincere condolences and understanding Margaret. I too was widowed a few months ago and always thought I was married to the smartest, most loving man. We endured a lifetime together 54 years of good time, bad times, horrific times.
It’s only the good times that stick. We’re lucky to have had what we had.
Keep doing what you’re doing ladies. It’s the most fun in a political wasteland.

So very sorry for your loss.
God Only Takes The Best
By Christopher Warner
God saw that she was getting tired
And a cure was not meant to be
So he put his arms around her
And whispered “come with me”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer
And watched her fade away
Although we loved her dearly
We could not make her stay
A golden heart stopped beating
And a warm loving heart to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
That he only takes the best
