Glorious

Margaret, the immaturity shown by Donald Trump today was surpassed only by the cluelessness shown by Ted Cruz. One is gone and soon to be forgotten while the other remains covered in Doritos crumbs and shame.

The only harm Trump can do now is to the GOP, Fox News and his own brand. Good riddance. Like flies to shit, I hope his supporters follow him into obscurity.

The inauguration of Joseph Biden was glorious. Truly glorious.

“If we merge mercy with might

And might with right

Our legacy is love”

Our 4-year nightmare is over. Have a nice life, indeed. Wear a mask while you celebrate joyously. I mean it. Really.

  1. Yes, feeling like I’m living in a bad dream or novel as well. I can’t believe how many well educated people have fallen for this baffoon’s lies. And the GOP continues to go along with it. The Republican Party needs to die like an old sea monster.

  2. I naively thought the election of Biden was the end of Trump, but in hindsight it’s just the second chapter of a historical novel being written in real time.

Maybe Texans will finally see the light after this episode and realize that socialists like democrats are viewed in those parts have a point about protecting people from predators and vultures who like to take advantage of them at their most vulnerable. Creeps all around! Nothing justifies the gounging that is happening there.

  10. OMG! The horrendous news we are getting about what nurses have to do at hospitals because of this storm! I am from a family that thrived in the Far North. We have had power outages int he winter some years ago here n the Mid-Atlantic area but luckily I saved my Far North long johns! they really came in handy. We also have some really antique kerosene lanterns. Fortunately, the gas oven still worked. The only real hazard at that time was over-eating!

  12. I am hoping that the glorious-ness continues unabated. Namely, that tRump gets “fried” in the Senate “trial”. He may escape sentencing but there are so many other ways to deal with his scaly-ness. The FBI has been doing a bang up job rounding up all the identified perps from Jan. 6. Also, It seems that every TV station has a copy of the videos taken by several members of the Darwin Award Society as they tried to do great harm and damage to the Capitol. And some of the perps are even supposed to testify!!! My God! This will be so worth watching! For a great many reasons! All the invertebrates that still kiss tRump’s anatomy will be shown and known coast to coast and around the world. tRump has an enormous chance of ending up indicted and jailed until trial for civil matters such as his “finances” and the fact that he has been an asset for the USSR for years and years. And he won”t be the only one in jail. Censure? Well, maybe. That was pulled on Huey Long decades ago and he had to immediately depart D.C. for Baton Rouge. He didn’t last long.

  36. Dear, dear Margaret, Helen and all you porch dwellers who survive and just keep on peddling. We’ve been through so much together. Thank you for being here in our real world, where we don’t always get what we want but if we try, somehow, we get what we need. Today, we got what we need. I cried through the whole thing, tears of relief and joy and from all that swallowed anger leaving my person. We still don’t have enough vaccine for everyone and we still have to stay away from each other but now we can at least hope that trying might bring results we can be proud of. I’m working on helping neighbors and friends navigate the process to get vaccinated since not all of us are computer literate, Together, we can help each other and rebuild our world, better and stronger. Stay well, stay safe, lets get this job done.

Reading your posts did more for me than my therapist ever did and when each time I saw ‘Margaret and Helen’ in my inbox it was like getting an amazing gift that I shared with folks I love and respect, just to shed a bit of sunshine into their day.

Today’s inauguration and triumph of good over evil lifted our souls.
Today I am proud to be an American.

    What beautiful pomp and circumstance!
What incredible singing- especially Lady Gaga- and the poetry!
What an inspirational inaugural speech by President Biden.

BTW, I do expect to see your names in my inbox again.

There have been times in the last four years that I wasn’t sure we’d make it to a post-orange world, Miss Helen – but I kept reminding myself that if a woman of your fortitude could soldier on, I had to try as well. Only wish I had a slice of one of your pies with which to celebrate this joyful day.

Assuming Biden doesn’t run again and Harris runs and wins, I know you’ll relish seeing the (delayed) first female president sworn in. And we can hope 45 is watching from prison.
