Nancy just tore up the speech. I would have torn him a new asshole. #ImWithFred

Margaret, have you been watching any news lately or did you give up and go back to just talking to your parrots? If you did, I don’t blame you. The media is about to make me lose my religion. There’s so much shit being broadcast, I’m more lost than a fart in a fan factory. Somehow the Iowa Caucuses, which to be honest are about as interesting as watching paint dry, are headline news because we didn’t get our vote count in ten minutes. But an impeached President disrespects the National Anthem, can’t find Missouri on a map and then goes on TV and sniffs and snorts and lies to the American people and it’s declared a victory because he’s just rallying his confederacy of dunces. Lord Jesus have mercy. Where do I begin?

How about I start with Iowa. The news didn’t get their triple-washed results spoon fed to them and all hell broke loose. It took 24 hours to begin to get results. Oh the horror of it all. Honestly I ask you: How could it NOT take a day or two? Did you watch the damn thing? A hundred and fifty thousand Iowans came running out of the corn fields and into gymnasiums and cafeterias with something called a Presidential Preference Card. Once inside they proceeded to have an old-fashioned pig pickin’. People gathered here and then gathered there only to learn that this candidate wasn’t viable and then that candidate was, and suddenly those preference cards were being traded like Green Stamps. For you Bernie supporters out there, Green Stamps have nothing to do with immigrants or the environment.  A better reference for your age group might be Pokémon cards.  And for you Klobuchar supporters – think Beanie Babies. Before you know it, one woman was so confused, she traded away her preference card for Buttigieg not realizing that God has issues with Chasten. I kid you not.

If you ask me, the fact that we started getting results the next day is remarkable.

Look, I’m poking fun at our friends from Iowa, but the truth of the matter is this. It’s a caucus. It’s complicated by design. If it were easy, everyone would participate, and we certainly can’t have that.  And if you think Iowa can’t caucus, imagine what would happen if Florida tried it? Or better yet, Georgia.  Folks – voter suppression is something Americans excel at. Iowa has about 800,000 registered Democrats and over 600,000 didn’t caucus for shit.  With a 19% turnout, you would think we could get those results quickly. Am I right?

Wrong.

This isn’t a disaster. It’s not a conspiracy. It’s a caucus. Shit happens. In 2012 the Republicans were caucusing for Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, John Huntsman and a couple other candidates who might have been named Gabbard and Yang for all I know. Mitt Romney was declared the winner… until he wasn’t.  Almost 16 days later Rick Santorum was declared the winner but only after the Iowa GOP announced it was really just too close to call anyone a winner.  Four years later in 2016 we think Ted Cruz won, but Ben Carson accused Cruz supporters of cheating and Donald Trump claimed it was rigged against him.  Yeah. That happened.  So… getting results 24 hours later – not really a news story.  But you would have never known that considering how many journalists set their hair on fire yesterday as we waited for the Iowa Democrats to weigh in.  Funny how that was the news when, on the other side, an impeached President was running virtually unopposed.

But it’s not like we are lacking for news ever with this asshat in the White House. How many hours and hours, days, weeks, months even did the media spend on NFL football players supposedly disrespecting the flag by quietly kneeling during the National Anthem. Remember that? Remember how Trump wanted them all fired? Remember how the GOP said they should just shut up and play or even better they could just leave the country if they hated it so much – remember that?  Of course, you do.  It was headline news for… well considering we still hear about it – forever. And yet, when an impeached President Trump waves his hands, points at people and even tries to take a seat  druing the Anthem while others stand at attention with their hands over their hearts… well we don’t hear much about that because evidently the Iowa Caucuses were rigged. Thanks media. Once again you have proven about as useful as a one-legged man at a butt kickin’ contest.

And then just as the Iowa Caucus results are released, we cut away to the impeached President’s State of the Union Address otherwise know as Trump’s Tall Tales. Among other bullshit, Trump delivered NRA propaganda as red meat. Fred Guttenberg was in the audience. He lost his daughter, Jamie, during the Parkland shootings. Fred spoke truth to power last night while Trump lied to America. Fred was removed from the room. Trump continued to lie.

  • Fact: Trump is fighting in the courts to get rid of insurance coverage for pre-existing conditions.
  • Fact: The economy grew faster under Obama.
  • Fact: Midwest manufacturing activity has hit a 4-year low under Trump.
  • Fact: More jobs were created during Obama’s final three years than during Trumps first three.
  • Fact: Nobody aborts babies.
  • Fact: Donald Trump is a liar.

But what will the story be?  Nancy Pelosi ripped up the speech.

Give me a break mainsteam media. She just tore up the speech. If I had been there, I would have torn him a new asshole. It’s not that you’re fake news. It’s that you’re no news. Get off your asses and do your jobs. I mean it. Really.

  1. Hi Mageen,

I guess it is human nature. Working from home isn’t much fun these days for some reason, since I am being forced to do so. But I shouldn’t complain. Good you are keeping busy. Let’s all be as positive as you and defeat the nasty virus.

  6. Just learned that Trump tested negative for the virus. I am not convinced. Even his doctors seem to be invertebrates and will kowtow to him. Anyway, he should be tested further in a 14 day stretch. And all the plant life in the WH should be tested as well, no matter who they are.

Went out and about yesterday just to check out the scene. I live two blocks from one of the oldest most historic north south routes in the country. For the first time, it was a true pleasure to drive it. Ate at an IHOP. the wait staff will take you order from 3 feet away and set it in front of you without eye contact. This is a 24 hour place and they never, but never lack for customers, even during a rare blizzard.

Took a little drive afterwards and once again it was a genuine pleasure to see the countryside at my speed!

Daughter in AL relates that all the schools are closed, her kids are doing their lessons electronically and even the federal part of her area are closed so that means hubby is home, too. I know that this is the time she has prayed for to clear off her Honey Do list!

Stay strong, porch dwellers! Onward and upward!

  7. Just learned elsewhere on this machine…almost missed it…It’s National Pi Day. Was is Alaskapi who started it here on the porch? I hope all the people I know and care about are and will remain to be well. I believe this crisis is just another test of our beliefs. Those who feel it’s a hoax should stand by their beliefs, test them a bit.

Just for info, DH and I both suffered from a thing much like this Covid19 thing back on January 18. He first, me one day later. Both began with severe sinus like headache, quickly progressed to raging dry cough. That went on for about 18-20 days. Haven’t had a sickness like this that I can remember, ever.
Met a woman in the health food store looking for relief, she was up to 28 days, 10 of them on an antibiotic, still coughing and suffering from head congestion.
We didn’t notice fever and didn’t bother taking temp. After 2 weeks of coughing, the muscles in my chest sides HURT! a lot! After 11 days, we visited our local primarycare to get our lungs checked but since that was still a couple of weeks before we knew the disease was in the US, we didn’t get tested for anything, not even flu. Now I wonder if we had a mild case of the Covid 19 or a relative of it. Although we’re both OLD!, we take good care of ourselves. Maybe if they manage to come up with a test for antibodies, we can find out what we had. Not gonna hold my breath, though. (and since I had Neurological Lyme Disease for 4 years while seeing the same primarycare and he never figured it out, I don’t really expect much from them.)

I’ll remain in touch with those I care about and share real information via Electronic Pony Express. We’ll continue to look out for each other. Some really good things CAN come from this.

  8. Cynthia, we are not in the streets screaming right now because of a virus and everything is either closed or about to close. I work in an exceptionally small office with no hands on or even eye contact with the rest of the world. Our business is 50% phone and internet with clients throughout the Northeast and even some contacts around the rest of the country. And I have also had a plurality of pneumonia shots. From what I understand, COVID is mostly a pneumonia. I am old enough now to have a plethora of shots in the past few years that I could probably imitate a pincushion. Anyhow, I want all the porch dwellers and bacon lovers out there to stay healthy. We will get through this. Heck, if the Italians can do it, so can we!

I did not think I would live to see the day when I would write I am proud of Mitt Romney in the stance he took. History will be kind to him. Wow I am feeling like I am on the event horizon of a black hole about to go in. Up is down and vice versa. What is going on? When is somebody vindicated when evidence is suppressed and everybody knows in advance about the outcome? How could I feel proud as a human about such an outcome and be crowing about it when I know things were rigged in my favor? My head would be hung down and I wouldn’t be able to look people in the eyes. Such is not the case anymore. Dishonesty is being elevated as a virtue. What do I do as a parent in the values I impart to my children? The future scares me.

The Senate did not remove him but that stain of impeachment will forever be attached to his name throughout the ages! That is the only saving grace in all of this! Everything you have written about him, about the Republicans in the Senate, that is how they will forever be remembered! God help our country, especially if this poor excuse for a human being gets another four years in office when he really belongs in prison!

  50. As you know you can tell when Trump is lying. His lips are moving. Trump has been diagnosed with the Pinocchio syndrome. This condition causes his nose grows longer with every lie he tells. Last night he poked the eye out of a reporter in the back of the room. The reporter pasted out & when he awoke he swears he saw little birds flying around his head. They were actually a string of tweets from the president. The same day when the Paradise fire started there was a fire in Washington DC. The president was involved in a media briefing and a White House security guard rushed in with a fire extinguisher as he noticed the presidents pants were on fire … liar, liar pants on fire. Near the end of his tirade he mentioned he created he had created earth in 6 days. Of coarse you remember last year while he was in Israel he claimed to be the “chosen one.” Actually, that is when he was going to be measured for the orange jump suit by the Department of Corrections.

  53. Let me give you another picture of Iowa caucusing up close. We live in the red Trumpian part. Steve King is admired. Democrats are looked on as crack-pots. We don’t know who else is “one of us”. Our neighbors have drunk the koolaide. To caucus, we have to rise above this and drive 20 miles from our rural home to a small town in a valley—population maybe 50. Even the bar is closed. There is an old, one room school house now known as the “community center”. There are stairs going up into it. So, there we meet and discover other souls brave and concerned enough and able to come out on a cold night to talk politics with their neighbors! (and a guy from Colorado working for the Bernie’s campaign) It was great! We discovered that the neighbor down the road is also democrat! We shared concerns and ideas, we compromised on who we’d be for, some volunteered to be delegates to the next round. I can’t imagine doing this in a more densely populated area, but it was a good thing. And knowing who we supported as a group, and knowing there were lots of similar groups making up the Iowa caucus, means we know if the vote totals reflect the will of the people. (yes, the totals they are reporting sound accurate) Sure, it drove the media crazy to have nothing to report for hours……but we aren’t doing this for the media. We are doing this as our part for the good of the country. Just because we are a small rural area doesn’t make us less.

  64. Superb blog! Eons ago when I was in undergrad school, my political science and history professors all foretold the coming of Trump. We just couldn’t believe it. At that tie we had been toddlers during the Second World War and saw pictures in the magazines and newspapers that our parents read and left on the coffee table. The photos were god-awful and even a child in potty training knew they were ghastly. And then came the Korean War and more photos of ghastly nature. We certainly weren’t sheltered. but still, we couldn’t believe their predictions. Their basis for the argument was simply “people can be suckered.” History has shown that there is a lot more to being suckered by what someone sys or does. there is this odd thing called recognition of one’s self in the guy coming after your allegiance. Apparently there are more “Trumps” out there n the hinterland than any patriots. Yes, these same professors caught us about impeachment. It sounded good to hear and looked good on paper but I always wondered why the hell the Founders didn’t add some real genuine “teeth” to the process such as execution. Otherwise as the years roll by its going to be just more of the same. I also believe that Trump will eventually end very, very badly, blubbering all the way.

Republican Senators may now be fully opening Pandora’s Box, if they acquit the US president with no admonishment. They may not ever get a chance to put the president back in the box and my guess is they won’t be able to. Mind you, I believe the evidence is pretty compelling that the president is every bit as guilty and more. Sadly, he has dragged others into his mess, as is his usual modus operandi.

What they are missing because of fear and blind allegiance is this is the point of reckoning where they could have saved their party and democracy. This point may be looked back on in history as the watershed moment when the GOP leaders failed to act upon. The argument that the president’s position is above the law is absolute BS. We are not a kingdom and, if our president is corrupt and untruthful as this one is, he needs to be removed from office.

As an independent and former GOP and Democrat voter, I do not care what party is represented in the White House. But, when the incumbent dishonors the position to the point where 63% of Europeans (per a recent Pew survey) do not trust him, trusting Putin and Xi more, what does that tell you?

Taking the US president at his word is fool’s errand. But, this is not new. His attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen said under oath, “Donald Trump is a racist, he is a con-artist and he is a cheat.” Under oath, Cohen said he sent out over 500 strong arm letters to people and entities to not reveal any negative news about Trump. The most succinct quote about Trump comes from Thomas Wells, another attorney who worked with Trump, when he wrote before the election, “Donald Trump lies everyday, even about things of no consequence.”

The evidence is overwhelming in my view, based on the testimony of duty bound public servants under oath who testified at great risk. But, the key reason I know Trump is guilty (beyond his modus operandi), is because he said he is not. When one lies like the president, the story is fluid, like retreating lines drawn in the sand.

I apologize for the long winded comment.

  93. I am always so glad when I check my emails and your blog is there. It’s a breath of fresh air. You forgot to mention on other thing – that bloviating asshole Rush Limbaugh getting the Medal of Freedom. Jesus H. Christ. if there is anyone who doesn’t deserve that, it’s that purveyor of hate who bragged about smoking not causing cancer and now he’s paying the price. How many other people didn’t quit smoking because of him and are now ill with cancer? I have no sympathy for a creature who has spewed his hate for decades and has had a hand in our divisiveness. A mighty big hand. Thanks for you blog. I love it.
