Can someone please tell me when exactly does the Republican Party have to finally take responsibility for unleashing these lunatics on the American people? I mean they gave us Sarah Palin and now this? After years of pandering to uneducated, racist, gun-loving, women hating, born again and again and again asshats, the Republican Party is finally reaping their reward – Donald Trump. And they don’t seem very happy with their harvest.
I saw an interview with a gay, black Republican congressman from Georgia who is supporting Rubio. I think that makes him a unicorn. But anyway… The reporter pointed out that Rubio doesn’t recognize the congressman’s relationship with his same-sex partner. The congressman responded by saying that was ok because neither did his mother. Now if that ain’t the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Well it was, at least until I watched that debate.
Watching the debate I actually found myself agreeing with Donald on a few things. Rubio is a fool and Cruz is a liar. The problem is… Donald Trump is an asshole. And that was the Republican debate in a nutshell – an asshole standing between a fool and a liar.
And then there was crazy. I’m speaking, of course, about Ben Carson. Seriously now. What does picking a Supreme Court Justice have to do with fruit salad? He hardly has a thing to say all night, poor dear, and then ends with some bit about his healing hands. Good Lord, he spent most of the night with his hands in his pockets doing God only knows what. Why is he even there? Oh that’s right. So the Republican Party can pretend it’s the party of diversity.
And then there was Kasich. Bless his heart.
Anyway, back to the fool, the liar and the asshole. That is the best and the brightest in the Republican Party? Trump, Rubio and Cruz? If this group of idiots actually had an intelligent thought among them, it would die of loneliness. Maybe if we allow open carry at the next debate, they’ll all accidentally shoot one another and put us out of our misery. These fools couldn’t empty piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.
People, you get what you vote for and if you vote Republican that is what you get. A fool. A liar. An asshole. Or that guy who was off camera most of the night asking politly to be attacked… Because that is the most any black man could ask for from the Republican Party.
And then there was Kasich. Bless his heart.
If you think I’m just being mean, so be it. If you don’t believe me about Rubio being a fool, research his connections to the Koch brothers. And if you don’t think Ted Cruz is a liar, research his Senate involvement with immigration reform. And if you don’t think Trump is an asshole, read any book he’s ever written.
Listen. I think the right choice is Hillary. Some of you think it’s Bernie. Can we all at least agree that when the time comes we’ll get ourselves, our family members and our friends off our asses and out to the polls to vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is? Because there are three words in the English language that we can never, ever allow to be spoken: President Donald Trump. I mean it. Really.

some time ago I came to the conclusion that politically correct is…wrong. when we say hearing impaired instead of deaf, that implies there is something wrong with ‘deaf’. not. that applies to crippled, short, blind…etc. p.c. is different than common courtesy. it is not civil behavior to be rude and to name call. we have lost our manners is what’s happened and we’ve lost the strength to repel, to refuse to accept less than civil behavior. when the man yelled out ‘liar’ at Obama at his state of the union address, the president should have called for the sgt at arms to remove that rude boor. when a handful of elected officials threatened to shut down the govt they should have had their bluff called. enough is enough…actually its become too much.

It is one of my major regrets that we’ve allowed the part of the conservative movement which likes to call its hateful displays regarding other people “just being honest and telling it like is,” and to define the act of simple courtesy and good manners as “politically correct.” I just don’t believe their mamas raised them right. There is already enough ugly in the world; can’t we at least observe the Golden Rule? “Politically correct” – another name for not calling people names and behaving as though others are ‘less than.’ In other words, just decent behavior.

Amen Helen! I so agree with you. I voted absentee over the weekend and the clerk at the court house asked me which party’s ballot I needed. I surprised myself by giving her a startled and dirty look like, what? Me vote for any of the clowns on the Republican side? Who do you think I am? Of course I did not utter one word but my look must have said it all. A Trump presidency would be a tragedy for America. I hope sanity prevails.

I was tired of Rubio the moment he came to my current state of residence the day after Election Night 2012. (Yes, I’m in Iowa)
I find it interesting that Ted Cruz’s former college roommate says that he wouldn’t vote for Cruz even if he was the last person on the ballot. Not to mention that he was born in Canada, and there is evidence that his parents were both on Canadian voter rolls, and Canada didn’t make dual citizenship legal until 1977, which was after he was born.
Trump scares me. Carson and Kasich scare me even more because after Trump, Cruz, and Rubio, they *look* “moderate”, although Carson is probably popular with the racists in the GOP and TeaBag Party because he is inarticulate and fits their thoughts on what “an n-word” should look and sound like.
I am undecided, but will vote Dem in November.

When I saw the headline on my newspaper regarding the debate and my experience having seen a Latino soap opera I had an epiphany. Trump, Cruz and Rubio are actually auditioning for a role in a Latino soap opera after their (hopefully short) political careers are over. I know Trump isn’t a Latino, as far as we know, but he’s married to one and that should suffice. He could be the token ugly Americano who’s got all the worst attributes they see in some of us.

I am not a Republican, nor could I consider being one – ever, but I cannot be surprised at the Republican Party fielding candidates who so blatantly disrespect the office of the Presidency of the United States of America since they’ve set out to do just that from day one of President Obama’s terms in office. History will, of course, show what a great president he’s been as it will also show the poor showing of others who have held the office. George W. Bush comes to mind.

I’ve posted before that I’m a Bernie supporter, but will vote for the Democratic nominee over any other party’s candidate. However, I have to say that what I’m reading about Mrs. Clinton is making me consider her more Republican-lite than Democrat. And that worries me for our party AND our country, should she win the nomination, and then the general.
I am so tired of voting for the lesser of two evils – and that, in a nutshell, is why it’s good we have a potential candidate with the character of Bernie Sanders. I sincerely hope he will be our nominee, and then our President. We are SO SO lucky in Oregon to have Kate Brown as our governor. She put legislation when she was secretary of state to REGISTER voters automatically when they got their drivers licenses. (Unless they wanted to opt out). So I can help register voters in others states. I mean it! Really! We have to HAVE TO get the voters out in November, no matter who is running on either side. The time is crucial. LET’S REGISTER FOLKS!

Sure we can. Of course it would help if the DNC were actually, y’know, REGISTERING new voters these days. They aren’t — because the new, unregistered folks who want to vote are mostly Bernie supporters, and they don’t want those to turn out in the primaries. Problem is, that means they don’t get their votes in the general (no matter whom the nominee is)… not because these people are sulking and refusing to vote for Clinton, but because they aren’t getting the same courtesy that voters have had from the party for generations: an easy way to register, brought to where they are and inviting them to participate. And most people — no matter whom they support — won’t go out and look up ways to register and track one down and use it, if it *doesn’t* come to them.
The Sanders campaign is doing its best to register new voters — no matter whom they may vote for — but it’s got limited resources; it can’t do the work that is supposed to be the DNC’s job. The DNC has made a cold, clear-eyed decision that they’d rather lose with Sanders than win with him; indeed, they’d even rather lose with Clinton if it’s necessary in order to block Sanders. This has nothing to do with what Sanders supporters may or may not choose to do and everything to do with the DNC/Clinton campaign’s choices… they’ve decided Trump would be better for them and their Wall Street backers than Sanders would, and they’re going to stick to it.

It needs to become the party that cares about Main St. as well as Wall St. and can find the funds for supporting both those interests.
Perhaps that Democratic Party will inspire the support and votes of the large number of angry and detached voters needed to retain the presidency and gain seats in the senate….

Roz, the problem with your, and everyone’s really, characterization of Bernie is that he is not, nor never has been a Democrat. In fact, he has excoriated the Dems as often as he has the Republicans. His “plans” will come to nothing because of that, too, no matter what he says. Obama has had an uphill climb, but he’s been able to get some things done because he at least had the support of mist of the Democrats. Bernie is the odd man out, neither fish nor fowl, and no matter what he says he has far less influence than anyone else running, on either side.

As for Hillary being a liar…I’m thinking that’s just what we can now expect from most of our politicians. There’s too much bait…in the form of monied support…to tell the truth… which would expose them all to be in the pockets of a small segment of our society…Wall St./ Corporations and the banks.
Bernie repudiates all that and tells the truth…he doesn’t pander for votes. He tells the truth for votes. His life proves that he’s always stayed true to his belief in building a society that supports its members.
Hillary did work for the children’s defense fund. No question. However, later on, she didn’t care come to the defense of the children of color whose fathers were incarcerated in record numbers due to the legislation supported/passed by her husband’s administration. Nor did the Clinton administration’s Welfare Reform legislation help children. We help children when we help their families and move in the direction of a just society. But, I haven’t heard Hillary speaking about that part of her husband’s administration. That’s not information she shares in her righteous speeches. But then, there’s so much more she doesn’t share cuz she’s in it for the money..which means accepting/maintaining the establishment. That’s code for..not gonna make waves. She’s telling the billionaires they don’t have to worry. Watch.. they won’t go after her. That’s why the corporate media keeps asking how Bernie will get it all done..they’re sowing doubt. He may not get it all done but he won’t be enriching himself at the trough of ‘public’ service. Hillary is a multimillionaire and has worked the system to that end.
And yes, as I’ve written before… If necessary, I’ll vote for Hillary…and hope for a few crumbs to be tossed to the most vulnerable in our society.

OK. Here’s how it goes at my office. The R’s simply did not believe Trump months and months ago about running. He had pulled this kind of horseplay before. Hence, they were unprepared for his actual presence on the scene. And there were too damn many of them on stage! The only one to get stage time would naturally be the loudest and crassest (Trump). Frankly, umpteen possible candidates for the nomination actually means a weak party. Trump knows this. He knows that as a result no one in the party will take him to task early enough to make a damn difference. Trump is calling out the absolute worst in the electorate to support him and he may very well win every primary he enters. There is a Professor Norpath who claims to have predicted the winner of the general based on primary performance over the years. He picks Trump to win in November. One problem. Norpath’s creds are based on re-elections, and none of the winners were as off the rails as Trump. Further, Trump has yet to hit 50%. He is actually struggling over getting to that height. Clinton is over that mark. Clinton is also offering actual clarity of her policies and people are noticing that Trump does not. Frankly Trump is the weak one in this situation and Rubio and Cruz have divined that fact and are now aiming totally at him. Prediction: as the convention time nears for the R’s, more info about Trump’s background is going to come out and hit the fan and damage him. Another prediction: the evangelicals will still hold on to him but they are a small fraction of the electorate. I am already signed on as a volunteer at the nearby Hillary office. And as blistering as Trump et al. can be, I do expect to actually have fun! Its worth it! I mean it. Really.

I agree except that Hillary has no real conviction. She backs whatever opinion she’s paid to back. She lays claim to things she has never done. She recently was here in Nevada and had a bunch of commercials, one said she does so much for children. Being a research nut, I had to look it up. Surprisingly (ok, not really) I found nothing she has done for children. Another was to support gay marriage. Something she was against not long ago. I fund this insulting that politicians rely on us to be too lazy to remember or fact check their claims. This election is fixed (see the amount of fraud occurring) and a scene out of the Mad Hatters Tea Party. I stand in complete bewilderment that Republicans are followed by anyone, not only is Trump an asshole, he’s a complete narcissistl, nort a good choice for president!

Am I wrong or am I the only one asking ” What happened to separation of state and religion ? It is on the Constitution of these United States. KEEP YOUR RELIGION to yourself. Maybe I am wrong but I think all those Republicans spent to much time together and we got of a lot of “in breading”.

I’ve been a Republican since the first time I could vote – for Barry Goldwater. Over the last 10 years or so, conservative Christians have hijacked the Republican Party. Donald Trump is a wealthy bully, nothing more, nothing less. He deserves to be POTUS about as much as I deserve to be the Grand Poobah of BoogaBoogistan.
The present gaggle of Republican POTUS wannabes is embarrassing, to say the least, and we have the “Bible thumpers” to blame for that…There’s a saying about that, “whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7 Making a choice from poor choices is like having no choice at all.

Last night I tuned in to the RNC debate which actually should be call the Republican National Circus. As in the past debate this year Americas war on terror was a huge topic. “We need someone who can protect us from the terrorists”.
Well how scary and dangerous to Americans are they in reality?
The odds of one of us here being killed by a foreign terrorist is 1,500,000 to 1. Here are some things that make terrorists seem as dangerous as little boys throwing snowballs.
Dying in pedestrian accident 623 to 1
Dying by firearm assault 300-1
Exposure to narcotics and hallucinogens 289-1
Car accident 272-1
Falls 184-1
Accidental poisoning or drug overdose 139-1
Intentional Self harm 115-1
All form of land vehicle accidents 85-1
Stroke 28-1
Cancer 7-1
Heart disease 6-1
With intentional harm being almost 15,000 times more likely then a terrorist act killing you maybe you should be more frightened of that person in the mirror.
Your chance of dying due to heart attack is 250,000 times more likely than a terrorist act.
Finally that second amendment right so many are afraid to regulate has led to dying do to a firearm assault being 5000 times more likely then a terrorist attack.
The list of things more likely to kill or harm you then a terrorist act is in the hundreds. Despite things like cars,guns and disease being the top killers of Americans,efforts to make safer,regulate and cure these dangers consistently meet with high opposition in congress. With diseases that could possibly be cured with intensified research being the overall number one cause of death,it is sad that we spend at least ten times more on military defense and probably closer to fifteen times more when you add the budgets for CIA,NSA and homeland security.
So if The fear of terrorists killing you is keeping you up at night you might want to handcuff and tie yourself to the bed each night because the combination of your chances of falling or intentionally harming yourself go up dramatically at night as opposed to day.
The things that hurt or kill us the most are also the things we could control more and for less money than our focus on terrorism.
The boogey man has existed in so many forms throughout history and the results of fearing him have resulted in crusades,world wars,KKK,Cold War,Vietnam ,Iraq and now this ludicrous idea that terrorists are the most dangerous threat to our well being as a nation. Now the chances of this leading to one of your offspring being killed in WWIII are at least 100 times better than being killed by an act of terrorism.

Helen, I keep hoping that I will wake up from this nightmare and find that it was all a very bad dream. As someone who is sincerely trying to follow Christ, I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone else who tries to follow Christ can be for any of these asshats, especially the Donald. Perhaps what we’re seeing is that the decades of attacks on public education are beginning to show fruit. One can only hope that folks will see the light, but given our track record, I’m not hopeful.

The Republican Party decided 20 years ago that the only audience they needed to play to is poorly educated, while males–especially ones who used to belong to the John Birch Society. My husband (we are both pro-Hillary but would totally vote for Bernie) keeps saying that Trump is better than Cruz or Rubio…that Trump could never get elected. But when I see what has been elected and reelected to Congress as well as to the governments of many states, I cannot put my faith in the U.S. voting public. I shudder to think of what might happen.

Once again, a marvelous letter…witty and astute…and correct. I am totally pro Bernie, it will be painful for me to vote for Hillary, but if she wins the nomination I must vote for her. The alternative is far, far worse. My one objection to Ms. Clinton is that she is establishment. Establishment has fallen into an abyss from which there is no easy escape. Sanders is the beginning of the political rebirth…if enough people get out to vote for Sanders, they will also vote to change the congress and that’s where the most important change must occur. I take this opportunity to remind everyone that we already a socialist country…and not so democratic…public schools, medicare and Medicaid, social security, public roads and libraries and police and fire departments and many hospitals…all operate under socialism. All that means is we all share the costs, which by large numbers we can also control, so that all the above services—and more—become affordable to all. You know, like when you share the cost of the fence along your yard with your neighbor.

When I was younger Hillary would have been a Republican, Bernie would have been more like the Democrats, and the current Republican candidates would have been institutionalized for the safety of the general public. So, I support Bernie but will vote blue regardless.
