When Did Pro Life Become Pro Lies?

Margaret, this Planned Parenthood scandal seems to be all hat and no cattle – something I’ve come to expect more and more from the religious right. If honesty isn’t your best policy then join the Rebublucan party and make some shit up.

Here’s the story in a nutshell. (The key word being nut.) People who are upset about abortions are also upset about people talking about abortions. Wow. Someone call Fox News. We’ve got a story here. If we can’t make abortions illegal, let’s make talking about them illegal.

How about this instead…

I’m a nurse so I get that doctors, in particular, don’t have the best bedside manners when it comes to talking about the science of healthcare. Yes. It’s a science. I didn’t so much appreciate the way they talked about my breasts when I was diagnosed with cancer. They were my breasts after all, but the way my doctor talked about them you would have thought they weren’t attached to my body. So I get it.  My late husband, Harold, felt the same way about testicular cancer.

But that isn’t a crime. It might be a crying shame but not a crime. Do I wish that the doctors in those videos displayed a little more compassion? Sure. But do I think the greater show of compassion is respecting the privacy and personal decisions of women to manage their own healthcare? Damn right I do.

These videos disturbed me at first glance. But on closer inspection, they bore me. The group behind them is all hat and no cattle. All sizzle and no steak. All Christian and no Christ. I mean it. Really.

That is unusual. We have seen smoke from Alaska, northern Canada, and the Pacific Northwest several times this summer.

  3. You accuse me of fire and brimstone,….You and I ARE constantly being burned by God’s Word, or maybe NOT, if we hold our beliefs higher than those of God!
Most other religions, except Aethiests hold these same values.
Even Aethiests have ethics….of what is good and right toward men.
The inner spirit of man is truly connected to the Creator, even without any knowledge of Him or religion.
    Here are excerpts of God’s Word….not mine….guys…
I say guys because some of your comments are not good and right toward women. Please reread them….

Commandment 1 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (I John 2:15); which is another way of saying, put nothing in the world before God. “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God” (Revelation 14:9). “Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image” (Revelation 20:4). “But the…unbelieving…shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).

Commandment 2 “we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols” (Acts 15: 20); “abominable idolatries” (I Pet 4:3). “Little children, keep yourselves from idols” (I John 5:21). “But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam…to eat things sacrificed to idols” (Revelation 2:14). “Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow…My servants to…eat things sacrificed to idols” (Revelation 2:20). “But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk” (Revelation 9:20). “But …idolaters…shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8). “But outside are…idolaters” (Revelation 22:15).

Commandment 3 “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so” (Jas 3:10). “He is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son” (I John 2:22).

    Have a Great Day !

  7. Seriously, you take away a woman’s right to control her own body, then what’s next? Taking away a man’s right to control his own body as in his freedom to get snipped after a certain age and/or number of kids already on the ground. What history tells us that the major dictators experimented with certain practices on a segment of the population before unleashing that practice across the board. For those with a density problem out there, let me explain further: first they took away a woman’s rights, then they came after men. Got it?

  9. There’s nothing like the abortion issue to bring out the religious crazies and the men who think they should be in charge of a woman’s freedom to control her own body and life. The bottom line is abortion is legal in this country, and a woman’s choice is nobody’s damn business but her and her doctor. If you don’t approve of abortion, don’t have one, but you don’t have the legal right to impose that belief on someone else.

Anon person. I know the Hyde Amendment forbids funding abortions unless the mother’s life or well being is in danger,. However, The Daily Signal ” How ObamaCare Funds the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider” makes the story hazier.

The Government Accountabilty Office released a report confirming that more than 1,000 Obamacare exchange plans cover elective abortions but remain eligible for tax subsidies.

Other organizations provide abortions. Let them get tax money instead of Planned Parenthood. I have seen the videos and some of the complete unedited versions which are on line. The latest recording mentions whole bodies which might have been live late term abortions. I know they happen because I have known Dr. Le Roy Carhart since the Air Force. He is an abortion doctor who does late term abortions. Or he did. He got into some trouble but I assume he is still practicing.

Everyone should watch the tapes. Then decide.

Because I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women’s health care centers. You know, on second thought, maybe I shouldn’t be that surprised. The Republicans have had a plan for years to strip away women’s rights to make choices over our own bodies. Just look at the recent facts.”

OH, HTG, “ChrispyChris,”… You think these women have some “fault,” for which they ought to feel guilty, when they are brought up in patriarchal societies, who think it’s okay to cut off their clitorises so they don’t enjoy sex, so long as their legs are open to whatever “man” wants to have at them…? Don’t give me that Biblical crap… The Universe has made at least half of us female, and that was not a mistake… That was the intention.

And you think YOU know how I, or any other woman, should get closer to our god, or goddess…? I don’t think so… This is my business, and not yours.

You will please remind yourself that every single terrorist group, anywhere in the world, has, as one of its first goals, to keep women covered up, speechless, and powerless… And they try to kill women who dare to open their mouths. (Malala, anyone…?)

It’s always so interesting to me to see a bunch of “guys,” with bandannas over their heads and faces, and/or dish towels, or fabric scraps, doing the same, jumping up and down, brandishing guns, and thinking that their doing so gives them some balls.

  20. 60 years ago, I was raised as a child, a Democrat; considered myself a liberal. I have lived to see the Democratic Party, and liberalism, which I still believe in, like helping the poor, sharing with those less fortunate, and working hard at the skills we were God given toward making a better world. All that I believed in has been twisted to the state of becoming TOTAL Socialism…. and even more than that…. Totalitarianism.
It appears the two parties have switched ideological sides on several issues…It almost appears as they ARE exactly alike.
Both parties seem to have all been taken over by some evil forces…
    As far as the abortion…issue…
I used to be pro-choice, then I became pro-choice and yet, against Abortion.
God gives us all choice of free will. Why would we want block someone else’s choice of free will? I came to realize the reality of what abortion was…
The government funding of these choices, IS forcing all of us to fund an ideology that may be against our individual belief system. Abortion is NOT, and has NEVER beenfor the betterment of mankind. Most of the poor women suffer greatly from the choices they made, if they ever get close enough to God to see their fault. ( Man never seems to want to admit his fault…It is a human condition )
From all this 6 year study, it appears some folks are really raking in the dough, through the killing of these babies.

In the Bible, Life is considered such while in the womb.
    Luke 1:36, 41

Elizabeth conceived a “son” and that the “babe” leaped in her womb.
God does NOT call the “son, or babe” a fetus or tissue or, mass of tissue.
God called that which was in her womb, her son and said the babe leaped while still in the womb.

The same word “The Babe”, God uses to describe Christ in the manger in Luke 2: 16.
In God’s eyes, the” Unborn Babe and Newborn Babe” are the same. They are both living beings, and ARE His Creation.
Only God has the right to kill and take life. We ONLY have the right to defend our lives, not to kill another. If we kill, we are sent to jail, as it is still against the law of man to kill, and for sure against the law of God to kill. Killing is an act of sin against the Spirit of God. Satan is set free on earth to steal, kill and destroy God’s Creation.
For man to kill God’s Creation is an act of like a god…and to fall for Satan’s promise of giving Jesus all he saw in the Garden, if he would Just bow down and worship Satan.
Mankind has always fallen for Satan’s beguiling.
Abortion comes from the fear of poor girls and women who think they have no other way. Satan uses our human fears and frailty to make us think we have no other way.
There are many childless couples praying for and wanting a child.
There are also many women dying, or close to death on the abortionists table, and even some hospitals aiding in the deaths and cover ups of these nearly full term infants.

    Job 3:16 NIV
“Or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn child, like an infant who never saw the light of day?”

In Job, God called them unborn children, in reference to pregnant women.
The term “ with child” appears 26 times in the Bible. The term “fetus” never occurs once

This last Blast of Truth Coming out IN VIDEO bringing to light what the abortion industry actually does to its clients, and the selling of baby body parts and how they harvest certain organs…is bringing to public light that which they have been hiding since abortions became legal.
The whole abortion procedure, is totally barbaric and really totally inhumane.
Watch the videos I have posted, earlier,.
I have always pretty much aligned myself with your thoughts and commentaries, but, not this time..
Margaret & Helen….Your comment shows a lack of total information of the 6 year study on Planned Parenthood. You are just way off, unless you are really not of the human race…

She claimed her councelors were really sales people….she claimed…..They were not real counselors, they merely wanted to guide them TO the conclusion of having an abortion. Get the order. They actually had scripted sheets to overcome the objections, like any other sales office.
They gave the girls cheaper, low dose birth control pills and low quality rubbers, which would for sure bring the girls back, for abortions, hopefully 3-5 times.

  22. Christ is not confused, nor, is God, His Father, confused concerning the issue of abortion. God is and was always the same thousands of years ago, today, tomorrow and for all of eternity. His Word will and has never come back void. You cannot serve your personal choices and serve God, at the same time. You cannot simotaneously, serve two gods….You can either choose to serve the One True God of Heaven and Earth…..or Satan, himself.
Christ was crucified for calling the chief priests out on the issues of his day, like making money from the sale of temple offerings, to be burned on the altar to rid them of their sins…during each years time of the passover.
Thank God, Jesus was sent to earth to re-unite us to a real relationship with We no longer have to burn offerings to be forgiven for our sins, nor, nor do we need a mediator between us and God.
We can go directly to the throne of God and talk to him, and ask forgiveness. God really wants to be in relationship with his creation. He loves his creation that much.
The Planned Parenthood posses itself as being the champions of the poor, providing birth control to the poor, and reproductive health.
They ARE currently and have always provided “tissue” for science..
These videos are showing ………Bidding…….once the adminstrators see how much the potential buyers are willing to pay, they negotiate up the price….saying, they want ” a Lamborghini “.
    That IS promoting INFANTICIDE….
Sure, I believe abortion is a choice., but, I do not believe it is a good choice. It does not put GOD FIRST, which is what Christ Followers must do. Jesus followed God’s Word.
We must stop the killing of babies. Planned Parenthood is not JUST offering a service of birth control to the needy poor……they are killing for profit.
Our tax money is allowing this to take place. We are funding this murder, inc.

This video is all about the 6 year under cover study about the UNLAWFUL business practices and the lies of Planned Parenthood.

Hearing on response of what Planned Parenthood would do in botched abortion to a baby struggling for life on a table.

I will explain from God’s Word why “babes in the womb” are described by God as children. ………next post…

  23. Gato, this one is for you. Our grand daughter likes this song and copies the dance steps including waving her arms when she sees it. The lyrics also illustrate our grand daughter’s attitude toward dancing. Sometimes, she says “please sit.” because she wants us to watch her dance. She also likes to march to Sousa music.

  24. Thanks Gato. We are home right now, because the other grand parents are visiting. We are usually home on weekends. As soon as she sees me, after our return, our grand daughter runs to me and says “Opa Opa!!” and then “Oma Oma!!” to my wife. I taught her how to make toast and she does the whole procedure by herself. She likes to march and dance. When a song starts, she moves with set, not random foot patterns she has copied. Our daughter saw this and decided to pay for dance lessons when she is older.

Her head is still too small, and her skull is not fuseing. Her doctor told our daughter she has no idea of what to make of our grand daughter. They still want to test her to see why she is the way she is.

I consider abortion to be murder, but sometimes murder is necessary, especially during war or to stop a crime. If the cost of bringing a baby to term is too great an abortion may be the only choice. My wife and I considered an abortion when we lived in England, but then, we discovered she was not expecting. I still remember the fear we felt and how we felt trapped before we knew.

We had only about two weeks of good news during the entire pregnancy. Near the end, our daughter developed pre- eclampsia and she had some other problems which might kill her. Doctors checked her every five days to decide whether or not to induce labor. Her parents strongly considered abortion for a couple of months and nearly went through with it.

Our daughter and son in law earn good money, though they are not rich, They could have afforded the abortion, but had they done so, we would never have met our grand daughter. Her development is only one reason we consider her to be a miracle Her existence is a miracle.

My quarrel with Planned Parenthood is not that they perform abortions but that they display little or no reverence or respect for the lives they are ending.
They also seem to occasionally alter surgical procedures not for the health of the mother but to better harvest organs. It may or may not be legal, but it is wrong to change procedures which might put the patient further at risk.Another video was released today. Look at section 9:45 and see what you think.

Another thing that concerns me is the number of late term abortions implied in the videos. Fetuses can feel pain around 20 weeks, and our daughter knows the mother of a baby born at 22 weeks. He had a six percent chance of survival, but he is progressing and may have normal development by the time he enters school. His early pictures don’t look much different than pictures of late term abortions I have seen.

Warren Buffet has supported pro- choice concerns for years. I don’t remember how much money donated last year, something like $150 million. You would have to look it up. I pulled that number from a hat to illustrate his generosity. Starbucks is another operation which gives money to Planned Parenthood. I think Joni Ernst’s bill provided for money not given to Planned Parenthood to be spent on other abortion providers.

I don’t think denial of tax money will put Planned Parenthood out of business. If they demonstrated a change of attitude including the proper reverence for the lives ended, I would have no problem with tax money supporting the organization.

You may rip my argument, but you have to admit, my reasoning is atypical for this issue.

  25. Well, hello, again, James – Certainly glad to hear your granddaughter is doing so well; I’m sure your loving attention has been critical in making that happen. However, I am confused… I’m not sure how you can declare yourself “pro-choice,” AND, at the same time, support defunding a “choice” that helps tens of thousands of women, primarily those who financially have no other “choice.” I trust you are aware that providing abortions is LESS THAN 5% of the services offered by Planned Parenthood. If the parents of your beloved granddaughter didn’t have YOU available to “see her for more hours than they do,” and their income was severely limited, where do you think they might turn for care and guidance…? Write to Warren Buffet…?

  26. In case you get the wrong idea about me. I am pro choice.

We lost a baby shortly before he was to be born, and we got a financial settlement, but it didn’t bring back our baby.We marked mile stones like graduations he would have experienced if he had lived. Our grand daughter who has been under our shared care for two years now, still has problems, and her future is still in doubt, but she is thriving in large part because of how my wife and I have poured every ounce of stimulation we could. Her parents do too, but we see her for more hours than they do.

She is happy and developing a little ahead of normal with no signs of terrible twos yet. It is almost as if she is dimly aware of what a miracle she is, Doctors suggested she ought to be aborted and her parents strongly considered it. Her doctors don’t understand why she is doing so well.

For these reasons which are emotional, and after I have watched the videos, I support defunding Planned Parenthood. They will be fine without tax money. Warren Buffet, for example is a substantial contributor.

  28. Some years ago my mother had a sudden premature birth. At that time there was nothing medical science could do to care for a 7th month fetus. That should tell you just how long ago that happened. My parents left the body to medical science to use for research on prematurity. Why didn’t my folks have a burial and so forth? Well, the religion they belonged to did not have any sort of service for a pre-termer. I know of others who experienced this same thing and when they asked the parish priest for a service and were told there wasn’t any such thing, that parish was shy of at least two more people. There actually were people who when discovering what my folks did who were very, very critical (to put it diplomatically).

There were even some people who thought at least one of my parents had done something to bring about this sudden end of a pregnancy and ended up in the hospital because things got a little out of hand.

Point here: there are always ignorant, hateful people around.

I had a friend who died a few years back after a terminal illness who left his body to medical science for research purposes. I could well understand his thinking. However, once again there were people who were morally outraged that he would even consider doing such a thing. Why, if he had been a Christian he would have had to have a decent church burial and a church cemetery. However, by the time his own time ended, he was thoroughly sick of the church.

    See point made above.

These pro-birther anti-life types have a secret but some folks have already guessed it. Their dissatisfaction with so much of life is immeasurable, thats pretty obvious. They carp about everything. What they don’t want you to know is how dissatisfied they so often are about God. The Almighty doesn’t even make their cut. And they would go down fighting and dying to keep you from knowing it! Their own hate shall consume them. Bet on it! Really!

  35. Hi, Cynthia – and joanpm, and so many others who’ve posted here – Joanpm, your story is a powerful one, and one the “right to lifers” prefer to ignore. (Or they often go into their “You could have found a way” speech, without offering a single option toward that end – and, in fact, often do their damnedest to take away any options you might have!)

I think, for starters, that every single individual, of any gender, who shows up for ANY anti-abortion or “right to life” demonstration, protest, conference, gathering, meeting, fund-raiser, or whatever, should be REQUIRED to attend ACCOMPANIED BY AT LEAST ONE CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF FIVE. (“Extra credit” for more than one.) If not, why should we listen to a word they have to say? (If they don’t have any children of their own, I’m sure there are plenty of parents who would be extremely happy to “lend” them one or two for a brief period of time…) If they’re so sincere about their beliefs, let them show it by actually BEING with a child who already has a life. Doesn’t that seem like a perfectly reasonable suggestion?

Like the good Sister, I, too, absolutely cannot understand people who insist that every child has a “right” to be born, and after that, hardly a single “right” to anything else…

Total lack of any real “caring” (or sense, for that matter), IMHO.

  37. Helen….so happy to see you writing more in the last several months. We need your voice now more than ever. You have a gift of word smithing and I would have bet money that you had been a journalist or journalism teacher. But, I am sure that your intelligence and humor made you a world champion nurse, as well.

What we have in our country’s political arena right now is the result, once again, of Democrats and Independent democratic voters who chose to sit out the mid-term elections. How quickly they seem to have forgotten the disastrous mess they allowed into the House of Representatives in 2010 and again in 2014 giving the Senate over to the Tea Party as well. Now we are all paying the piper for their decision not to vote. It is not ok and unfortunately we will have to live with the mess they created for many years. There are more of “us” than there are of the Republican Baggers but if we don’t vote, they win. No amount of money from the Koch Brothers and their ilk, the idiot Trump’s self-proclaimed billions and the ultra conservative PACs can change an election if ALL of the Democrats and progressive Independents vote.

The gaggle of Baggers stuffing themselves into the Tea Party clown car is amazing.
    http://www.democrats.org/the-2016-republican-field?utm_medium=email&utm_source=obama&utm_content=1+-+Weve+compiled+everything+you+need+to+kno&utm_campaign=em_20150718_dnc_s2&source=em_20150718_dnc_s2
This website gives a look at some of the herd who are desperate to be the next President…………and it is scary as hell. Add to that the idiot Trump and if that isn’t enough to wake us up and inspire us to vote Democratic then I don’t know what the answer is.

It is all about power and money, not about “we the people” or about our country. With unlimited money being spent by lunatics like the Kochs and the idiot Trump, it is about the power to see their own personal agendas on hate and fear come to fruition. It is all about destroying the 99%. That 99% includes women, children, the elderly, veterans, ethnics, the sick, the poor. They either hate them or fear them or both and the idea of this new political ad trying to portray Republican/Tea Party people as warm and fuzzy is beyond ludicrous. They are systematically destroying the 99%, one program at a time, de funded. And sadly, the people who need Medicare, Social Security, VA benefits, affordable health care and the list goes on, are the ones who always vote against their best interests because of political ignorance. The fools in the Tea Party clown car are pandering to their ultra conservative base and the ultra conservative money men who can give them unlimited funds, but the politically ignorant in the bottom 99% fall victim to their constant barrage of lies because of Fox News ( you can parental control that station off of your TVs, y’all ), Rush Limbaugh and his ilk and the penchant of the powers that be in our Media for keeping their content right-wing leaning.

I am certainly not in favor of abortion and I would never recommend it as a “way out”, but there are certain circumstances when it could become necessary. Why do men (and unfortunately some women) think it is ok for them to decide what a woman can and can’t do with her reproductive system. Let’s line all those men up first and give them all vasectomies. Let’s actually do something about the perpetrator in a rape case instead of blaming the victim. The fools in the Bagger clown car would be the first to yell, “not fair, I should be able to choose”. Believe me when I say that should a family member of this group of Tea Baggers need an abortion, they would get it, behind closed door and it would always remain a secret. What is demanded of us is not demanded of them. They have the resources and their own private physicians who will do their bidding, they have the best healthcare on the planet because most of them are in the political arena as Senators or Representatives. They are the HAVES and they hate the HAVE NOTS.

At the circus, the clown car is funny. In this upcoming Presidential election the Republican Tea Party clown car is far from amusing.

  40. U really agree with the following statement:

“I do not believe that just because you’re opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. And why would I think that you don’t? Because you don’t want any tax money to go there. That’s not pro-life. That’s pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is.”

  41. Helen, thanks again for helping the truth be plainly the truth! You know we love you!

In fact, CrispyChris, I was seen at Planned Parenthood for several years back in my breeding days! My husband and I had two children, both born with medical problems. Our hearts and heads were full up and our wallets completely empty in dealing with these medical issues, though somehow we both were employed to do the best we could do on our own. When I could not afford to pay the doctor for my own check ups and birth control, I went to Planned Parenthood. Birth control pills were, say, about $20 way back then per month. At Planned Parenthood, I received a free well woman check annually for several years, along with a month’s worth of birth control pills for $2.00. What a welcome relief that was. Because we both worked, we never received any other help from food stamps, or free health care or housing, and would have been embarrassed to have tried it. Heck, I don’t even remember if such welfare was available 40 years ago. But those $2.00 birth control pills and well woman check-ups were worth their weight in gold to me…a struggling young mom who just did not need anymore children yet didn’t have the money to do it myself. We are proud that we raised two great young men. One married and with two teenage girls. The younger not so lucky, he died three years ago at age 40 from kidney disease. But never a slouch himself. Graduated high school, went to college two years, became employed at an insurance company where he stayed and thrived through the years. 18 years matter of fact, worked up until the day before he died and that only because he died on Saturday night.

Planned Parenthood was a valuable asset in my life and not once never saw me or spoke to me about an abortion. I send them money every chance I get and have been known to march thru protesters screaming and acting like a bunch of fools into the front door just to make a donation in front of them.

I also support several other organizations who support women’s rights and health. People like you can talk about Nazi’s and the end of civilization all you want and make suppositions that logically make no sense whatsoever. I still write my Congressmen, Senators, the President, the Governor and anyone else I can to beg they not take a woman’s choice away. Call us cannibalistic? I would never use those kind of insults. And I believe my government is way more likely to listen to me that someone like you babbling about Nazis and Cannibals.

So, CrispyChris, if you needed a heart or a kidney or a liver to live, and I am saying no other choice, had to have it to say alive, and they could grow you a new one maybe with using a bit of fetal tissue in the cord, heal you up, forever, what would you do? Turn it down? Think about it seriously now, you get to stay alive and raise your children like my son, would you really turn it down??? I think not.

  46. Please post more often! There are not enough voices of reason such as yours on the Internet. (Just get rid of that apostrophe in the word doctors. It’s a plural, not a possessive. As someone else said, there’s only an apostrophe if you’re talking about something belonging to the doctor, for example, the doctor’s office. And if you’re referring to more than one doctor, it’s the doctors’ offices.) Good grammar makes brilliant commentary like yours all the more brilliant.

  47. The so called “pro-lifers” need a morality check. They only care about a child being born. But a child born must be fed, clothed, housed and educated. The hypocrites want to take all programs away that help mothers take care of their children. Their views are anti Christian, immoral and against the teachings of every major religion.

  52. Great post, Helen. I agree that many doctors, some of whom are brilliant in their actual treatment of patients seem to have skipped the classes on bedside manner. We’ve all met them at one time or another.

And to ChrispyChris, you started by saying you are pro choice but nothing in your long and mis-informed post backs that up. Nice try trolling, though. Now go do some proper research.

  58. Dear Crispy Chris,

You are aware that they are not doing abortions to harvest and sell body parts, and that much of what is sold is for research/science and is not in any way done for profit. You do know that, right? And you do know that 97% or PP services in no way involves abortions, which is only about 3% of what PP does. Please, get off your high horse. We are not headed for a nazi state because of PP. Geeze.

  62. Good post. Planned Parenthood does so much good for people in need and who need good information. I wasn’t thrilled with the cavalier attitude of the doctor speaking about body parts, so I am glad the leadership came down hard on her. It is interesting to me to play this against the proven approach in Colorado which has seen a dramatic decrease in abortions, unwanted pregnancies and helped with poverty, while saving the Medicaid system $80 million. By offering family planning and birth control to people in need, fewer babies are born out of wedlock and fewer abortions occur. Since there is a high correlation with global poverty and increased family size, the better family planning will keep people housed and fed. One of the reasons touted by a Harvard study (and touted as the only reason by some Conservatives) for inner city poverty is the decline of the two parent family. This approach in Colorado speaks to that. What is the Conservative state legislature’s response to this data – they want to defund the $5 million annual investment (by the way that is a 15 to 1 return). To me, you cannot say “this is the problem” and then deny a solution that not only works, but solves another problem of dramatic reduction. The religious right can preach abstinence all it wants and that is fine, but kids are going to have sex, so you better speak plainly with them about esteem issues around sex, saying no, what it means to have a child, and the various birth control means making them available.

  63. Thanks Helen for using your time, energy and wit to shine some clear light onto important issues for us!
I’m agreeing with Emily V….chrispychris has some misconceptions about this subject. The fundamental misconception, IMHO, is that her beliefs must be held by us all. There appears to be no recognition/acceptance of vast differences in our personal and religious beliefs and little/no understanding of the science concerning life in the womb.
How about we all support and respect the wide range of religious and scientific belief systems in this country and learn to differentiate between opinion and fact. Oy!

I am going to ask, ever so nicely, that you review your grammar rules on when to use an apostrophe (possessive nouns) and when not (plural nouns). Otherwise, someone might get the impression you are a young adult masquerading as a crotchety old broad rather than an actual crotchety old broad who went to school when folks actually learned grammar.

    Cheers!

  72. Hi Girls or Guys, I usually agree with much of you commentaries, but not this time.
I believe in.Pro-Choice. God give us Free Will and Choices. It still means we will
have to answer for our wrong choices, and answer for not standing up for the just and righteous things that God embodies and stands for.
You may be for choice, but that same thinking and current practices in the medical realm today, gives way for the future genocide of our old. Once a civilization kills off its children, and has its conscience subdued, it will not see the wrong in the killing of anyone within its society.
Maybe that is what is happening with the killings in the streets. You think?
Girls, your acceptance of the harvesting and selling of body parts may eventually be your own demise. This new Obama Care may provide the opening for such future genocidal practices, especially for seniors. We will have to wait and see.
Nazi Germany was beguiled to believe the govt. was always doing the right thing for the good of the people…It was a lie. Hitler once said “ If you tell a big enough lie, for a long enough time, people will believe it. The German people swallowed the lie, hook, line and sinker.
I know a 60 year old who asked her doctor about a bothersome health issue. He answered, “ What do you want to do, live to be 100?” They are already indoctrinating the medical profession, during their insensitivity training to not have respect for older folks, as well.
The society as a whole does not respect life…. Could this loss of respect for life be partly caused by Roe Vs. Wade. ?
The problem with Pro Choice is that the term implies freedom of choice…But, in actuality, it promotes the activity of stopping the life of a person….( and because it is a small person, who cannot come to its own defense, the mother is making that ultimate decision for him or her )
The tissue or blob, or whatever the semantics chosen to describe the fetus, it is not tissue from an animal, a fish, or an inanimate object at conception….IT IS a Human Being, nothing more, nothing less. A fetus never grew from a woman’s womb to be anything other than the child of a human being..(What was legally determined in the right of choice law is an idiotic concept that the mongers of genocide twisted and lied to the sheep-public to believe. )
It is not matter of being a democrat, a republican, a right or left, winger, or conservative, or Christian right….Abortion is still WRONG……The tissue or blob from the womb of a woman is still a BABY.
Darn, do we want to be known as a Cannibalistic Type Society? Most cannibals as of this date have eliminated themselves from existence…Will we do the same with infanticide and the future geriatric genocide?.
We should have grown past any uncivilized practices, for we were in some respects, more civilized 500-1000 years ago. ?? What is with all this nonsense.?
Planned Parenthood….is a named misnomer. It is not about planning parenthood, but rather, stopping parenthood…The nature of the abortions they perform procures the products they are harvesting, while in the womb, to then sell human body parts to increase the high CEO incomes paid out…
Since they are a non profit….they must use up any profits made in that year in the form of Incomes paid to their COE’s and staff.
