The sunset was beautiful here tonight, Margaret. Maybe not like the ones you get out there but its pretty enough for this old lady!
(Part 2) OK. So Margaret emailed me the second picture from Maine because she couldn’t figure out how to put it on this blog thing. Anyway, Margaret, here is what you have to do in the future. Under the area where you type your message, you will see a button that says “Browse”. Click on that and select your photograph just like you do when you email photos to me. Once you select it, then click on the button that says “Upload”. It might take a second or two but you will see a small version of your photo. If you don’t see it, Matthew tells me that means your photo file is too large or something like that. Anyway, if you see it, select “thumbnail” (not sure hwy they call it that) and then hit the button that says “Send ot Editor”. If you did it right, you will see it in your message. Don’t worry if you mess up. I won’t mind.

Dear Margaret:
You’ve been doing this for a while now so maybe you have figured this out, but rather than uploading photos directly from your harddrive to post on your blog and paying money when you exceed whatever the amount of space, you can upload to Flickr or Windows.Live, then post them over.
None of us are made of money!

I just found this blog today and find it very fun to read but allow me to take this one and a half year old post back to its original topic, if I may. While I have never been to Texas I have been to Maine and will be going back for a week in June. Seeing the sunset photo made me look back through my own photos from my first trip to Maine and has gotten me longing for the next 5 months to hurry up so I can get back up there!

Now that I have said my piece about the racist inuendo in a certain person’s comment, I should stop to mention: Helen and Margaret, your blog is a fantastic show of friendship and loyalty. It seems the two of you have a beautiful relationship. The photos of the sunset in Texas and Maine are immaculate. I apologize that your site has become the site of such fierce political debate, but I would also like to thank you for opening this forum up to so many people.

In response to Joannie’s comment to Darla: Let’s not forget Darla that although you still seem to harbor your parents’ racist, narrow-minded view of the world, it does not mean that a strong-minded man like Barack Obama can not think for himself and determine his own opinion on the world and religion.
The man is a Christian! And so what if he attended an “Afro-centric” church!? First off, do we call the majority of Protestant or Methodist churches in this country “Anglo-centric???” NO, we don’t.
Nevertheless, people congregate with like individuals and groups. You choose a church based on where you and your family feel comfortable. How comfortable would you feel walking into a black church Darla? Judging by your ethno-centric, “christian” response above, you wouldn’t even think about it. So why should a dark-colored skinned man be expected to walk his black family into a church like yours?
Truth be told, I read Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons that stirred so much controversy this year and you know what I read? TRUTH! I encourage you to fact check Wright’s statement’s in American History books.
Don’t try to deny America’s horrific past just because you are too ignorant to admit it, or are to out of touch with a good education that should have taught you the attrocities that whites committed against blacks long after slavery was abolished. For God’s sake, despite the fact that the U.S. Constitution gave blacks the right to vote
in the 1870s, white people would not even let blacks vote freely until after the Civil Rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Hundreds of black men lost their lives for a single vote!
Conduct research before you believe what your parents or the pundits on any biased media channel (conservative Fox News/liberal MSNBC) tell you.
RISE ABOVE IGNORANCE PEOPLE.

Thanks for reminding us (as if we needed it) why we enjoy beautiful people like margaret & Helen, The world is full of ugliness every where. Darla I only hope you can feel the Love & closeness of two friends, I doubt with your close mindedness you will ever feel that pure joy of having a friend with out judgment, to accept and understand and to know when to gently blow away the words…It’s about respect man!

That is quite a lovely sunset. I have a parent in Maine and I must say that seeing the sunset over the water is a treat. Visiting set parent in the winter up there… not so much.

While a youth, I spent a summer at a Christian camp. One night around a campfire, we sang a song that included the lyrics, “…and they’ll know we are Christians by our love…by our love…yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love….” That was the night that I chose to become a Christian with a real, living faith that was personal. My intention in leaving this post is not to judge, but I can’t help but notice that Darla’s previous post is missing this sentiment. Just by reading her words, I could never tell that she was a Christian. Where is the love? I’m frightened by the racism that was inherent in Darla’s passionate post. You can be sure that I’m praying for Obama’s safety tonight after reading that post – and praying that Darla’s passion isn’t shared by many people. (How sad that this beautiful blog entertains comments like Darlas….perhaps there is a better forum for her opinions…)

WOW! In reading these blogs about Obama, I can only think of what your life would be seen as Darla if it were scrutinized, twisted and spread all over the public forum. One cannot and does not choose thier parents or their parents religious views. We cannot lose sight of the fact that as a christian, one must always vote on the side of God. Period. We have no way of knowing either candidate really. We are only told certain aspects of their lives. We must not get sidetracked and start throwing stones at someones parents and their affiliations. If the news was to disect all of us, it would be a sad state of affairs and equally as embarrasing I am certain. I do not want to be held responsible, nor should Obama, for his parents flaws, failings or affiliations.. Get a grip..

Didn’t seem to me Darla was promoting McVain in the stead of Obama. Merely pointing out the facts that surround him. Yes, I know FACT is a four letter F word but they are true none the less. YES, McCain is a horrible Dictator wanna be puppet. Guess what? So is Obama. Both controlled by the same the same shadow government that is taking us into the New World Order started by Poppy Bush all those years ago. The American government as we once knew it has been completely hijacked. By the way, look into the Diebold voting machines. Wake up Sheeeple, the whole game is rigged. There is no vote. PERIOD. Do you really believe that with evil and corruption at the level we are seeing it would just stand by and let YOU and ME decide who stays and who goes??? We have gone from a budget surplus to a 12 TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT in 8 BUSH/ MCCAIN YEARS!
Remember, it was FREE MARKETS AND LESS REGULATION AND OVERSIGHT that got us there!
A lead cheerleader that took us to THIS BLACK HOLE was a fellow named McCain!
WE GOT LIED INTO A WAR that is now costing us 700 BILLION DOLLARS! GW Bush and McCain swore it would be quick and easy. The ESTIMATED COST OF THE IRAQ WAR WAS 300 MILLION. Bush and McCain have no exit strategy but the costs keep climbing. THE COST OF KILLED AND INJURED WILL BE STAGGERING for future medical care for our brave soldiers wounded in battle.
AFGHANISTAN: We are losing ground there. WE NEEDED TO FINISH THE JOB INSTEAD OF FIGHTING A NEW WAR that LIES got us into.
HEALTH CARE AND HOUSING: THEY HAVE GONE TO HELL IN 8 YEARS TIME BECAUSE OF BUSH/ MCCAIN POLICIES! McCain said, he wanted to do for health care what was done for the financial sector! HOUSING IS A BLACK HOLE OF DEBT WHICH JUST CAUSED AN 800 BILLION DOLLAR BAIL OUT OF WALL STREET.
Darla, You can drink the Republican cool aid but the reality is that OBAMA can add and subtract! Obama will think of regular people like me instead of the scam Wall Street Billionaires who love Bush/ McCain.

I might add one last little comment: The wars were put on a credit card, as were bail outs which gave a few Golden Parachutes. WHO WILL PAY for all of this 12 TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT? Darla, MY GRANDKIDS will be the recipients of a bill from Bush and McCain for all of the excesses and stupid decisions of the past 8 years.
